It’s good to be alive! Cancer sucks, but if you get past the urgent stage, manage the recovery, and keep well in your mind, life can be so so good. I’m 6 years cancer free and every day is a bonus. 😊
‘I’ve learned that I can’t reach for what I want in my life while holding onto fear, literally, in my chest... No one knows what the future will bring, but at the moment I have no evidence of cancer and no reason not to take that BC identity off my bio.’
A breathtaking milestone essay from Ren on shedding the fear, sunbathing off La Rochelle, and stepping into the next chapter at Muddy Switchbacks, Whiskey Neat.
You’re very welcome, Ren. It felt like an important piece to support—not only because of the milestone, but because of the courage it takes to step out from under an identity shaped by fear and begin naming yourself by the life ahead. I’m truly glad you shared it.
So wonderful to see your name pop up and to read about this freedom you’ve allowed yourself. Enjoy that whiskey neat 🥃
Thank you, Susan! It has been an odd transition. So happy to be back to writing.
